Movie openings:
After watching the opening scenes of the movie Psycho, Ransom and Mean Streets I am going to discuss what impression they give the audience after watching .
Psycho
Before I watched this movie I imagined it to be some sort of comedy because of the name. It is a pretty old movie (1960) so everything is in black and white. The effects used when the movie starts are a bit odd. The music as well is weird. It suggests something fishy is going on. After the opening credits we realize what is going on in the movie in the first minute. I think that the audience might want to know what happens in the movie. I couldn't get the original intro of the movie on my blog but I was able to get the 1998 version which is pretty much the same thing with the green background.
Ransom
The movie starts on the streets of New York and then eventually the camera goes up in to the balcony of a house. The way the movie title is shown is peculiar because the letters creep in one after the other and then turn from white to red suggesting something bloody or dodgy. We get introduced to the main character through an advert. This is very creative. As the party/soiree is going on in the house there is another scenario going on where it seems like a criminal activity is going on. This creates some sort of suspense within the audience.
Seven
The movie seven is a thriller starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. The opening credits suggest something wrong is going on because you see someone using a blade and making sure their finger prints are not visible. As it progresses you also see the pictures of the potential victims being put together. This could be the offender keeping notes of the killings or a cop trying to solve the case by putting bits and pieces together. All this is very intriguing and viewers would most probably want to watch the rest of the movie.
